Reporting about India’s toughest hottest unforgiving cross country rally happening at The Great Indian Desert,the world’s 17th largest desert. 14th edition of Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm rally 2016 has been flagged off from New Delhi on April 3 2016

108 drivers from India & Austria aboard their 4 & 2 wheels take on 2417 Kms of desert heat for 06 consistent days. Rally starts from Delhi to Hanumangarh followed by Bikaner,Jaisalmer ending at Jodhpur. This brutal terrain is scanned for routes several months in advance and highly structured event is organised by our very own Indian Northern Motorsport team headed by Mr. Jayesh Desai

Interesting aspects –

– For the very first time an Austrian National Rally Team contending with 04 entrants on Indian soil. 03 among them are Dakar Finishers with 01 paraplegic hero/athlete on a quad.

– 43 drivers in xtreme category. 05 among them being women drivers

– 19 drivers in explore (2 wheel drive cars)

– 15 drivers in endure (4 wheel drive)

– 31 riders in Moto with 01 female rider & 01 Quad.

– Day 05,April 08th stages run till 3 am next morning.

– Battle between Suresh Rana & Abhishek to look out for.

– Battle between CS Santhosh  on Suzuki 450 Vs Austrians on KTM 450 & 550 Vs TVS Boys Aravind KP & Nata Gowda on TVS Sherko 450 CC. (Right forum to show the world if they are Dakar ready) Vs Jes David for whom this is a home pitch.

– Manufacturers Scania,MAN,Tata,Mahindra,VW,Toyota,Hyndai & Renault yet to test their vehicles in this rally format.
