India’s prolific rider Rajini Krishnan has been crowned as the inaugural champion of Pirelli Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSC).

Despite the gallant effort of Malaysia’s former Moto2 rider Muhammad Zaqhwan Zaidi to deny his rival of the Superbike overall title.

Trailing the Indian rider by 13 points at the start of the day, Zaqhwan, had to start from the back of the grid after skipping qualifying yesterday, cut the lead to just eight points after winning the opening race.

“Actually, I did not push the bike to the max. Zaqhwan has the faster bike and I had to ride smart and just follow him to make sure to collect the championship points to win the overall title. With that achieved, we now look forward for next year to defend the crown,” added Rajini, who ended the season with 143 points and three points more than Zaqhwan.
