Nashik, 12 Dec 2010: Chetan Ganapathy made the best use of the absence of Team TVS Racing and powered his bike to a convincing victory in the Mak Rally of Maharashtra, the third round of the Mak FMSCI Indian National Rally Championship for Bikes here today.

The third of the five rounds of the MAK FMSCI INRC for Motorcycles was organized by Western India Sports Association (WISA) and promoted by IMG Sports and Pro Sports Promotion (PSP). Bharat Petroleum, with its MAK Lubricants brand, is the principal sponsor.

The riders were all praise for the rally which provided thrills to both the riders and the spectators and was one of the best organised. Twenty two competitors out of 27 finished the rally which saw the terrain look similar to the Himalayan tracks with the foothills of Sahyadri forming a picturesque background.

Venu Ramesh Kumar of Coimbatore finished overall second while local boy Sameer Kulkarni took the third place. ``Unlike the rallies in the Southern India where we only have to control the speed because of long `straight patches’, the Nashik rally gave some seat-edged excitement with uphill and downhill windy roads which is a true test for both the men and machines,’‘ said Venu, who won the Coimbatore leg too and is leading the class.

Local riders had a gala time as many a Nashikite took part in the INRC but crowd puller and local favorite Paritosh Kohok experienced bad luck and pulled out as his bike suffered a gearbox problem. Other competitors from Nashik kept the battle going many made it to the podium. In fact, in Group D for four stroke bikes in the 131 to 165 cc class, Nashikites swept all the places on the podium. Sameer Kulkarni took the top honours followed by Nishit Zaveri and Amit Belgaonkar.
