Rustom Patel stole the limelight in the Sportscraft Autocross Challenge for Two-wheelers at the Godrej grounds in Vikhroli, Mumbai, on Sunday.
The diminutive Mumbai rider was a cut above the rest of the field as he went through the motions on his Honda CRF while winning the class for Foreign Motorcycles upto 260cc Group A – 2 & 4 stroke.
Badal Doshi, astride a Yamaha YZ, and Aamir Dalvi, astride a Honda CRF, placed second and third respectively in the category.
There were five class for competition and at the end of it, it was Rustom who clocked the best timing of the day and bagged the trophy for the Fastest Rider of the Day winning the Late Kishan Rao Trophy. .
Badal Doshi may have lost in the class for foreign motorcycles, but he was best in the class for bikes upto 1300cc, Group C – 4 stroke.
Riding a Yamaha YBX, he went through the exercise of riding through a zig-zag course with aplomb to finish ahead of Sudesh Parkar and Malcolm Elavia. All the three were astride Yamaha YBX bikes.
Pinkesh Thakkar from Pune took the class for motorcycles above 130cc upto 165cc Group c, finishing ahead of another Pune biker Amul Satpute. Mmbai’s Chinmay Desai was third.
Overnight rain made the course rather tough to negotiate, yet Sameer Khan, astride a Yamaha RX, did well in the class for bikes above 130cc upto 165cc Group C. Pune’s Snehal Chavan, also on Yamaha RX, finished second while Aamir Dalvi, who placed third in the class for foreign bikes, was third.
It was tough going for riders in the class for scooters above 80cc upto 160cc. The first three places went to Kinetic Marvel riders., with Tarak Daiya, Vineeth Kurup and Kunal Rao finishing in that order.
The event was organized and promoted by Sportscraft to bring back the grass root level 2- wheeler event back in Mumbai which the boys were missing. The event was supported by Godrej, Zodiac, Overdrive and Bisleri.

The second & the third round of the challenge will be held on 31st August and 7th September respectively at the Godrej Grounds Vikroli
