Abdul Wahid Tanveer winner of MoGrip FMSCI National Rally Karnataka

Abdul Waheed Tanveer of TVS Racing edged out his experienced teammate Aravind KP by seven seconds to bag his maiden Pro Expert class for Super Bikes crown in the MRF 3rd Rally of Karnataka, the opening round of the 2016 MRF MoGrip FMSCI National Rally Championship for two-wheelers, in Bengaluru on Sunday (May 1)

Tanveer clocked a penalty time of 1 hour, 1 minute and 38 seconds to take his maiden victory in the national championship in this class, a release from the organisers Karnataka Motor Sports Club said. The second round of the six-round championship will take place in Nashik on May 14 and 15.

In the Super Bike Expert Class A, Vishwas SD won with a time of 1:10:18 while Yashraj Rathod came second, followed by Syed Jaffer.

Akash Ithal won the Super Sport 550-M5 class while Shreyas Chandra (400 M4), Yuva Kumar (260 M3) Asad Khan (165 M2), Saravana Kumar (130 M1) and Syed Asif Ali (scooter upto 210cc) emerged winners in their respective classes. Trinesh won the Star of Karnataka and he was also a creditable overall 20th among 50 riders, the release added.

Lady rider Shreya Sundar Iyer of TVS Racing had to miss this round due to an injury to her left elbow during a practice session.
