The FMSCI sanctioned, IndiKarting KartPrix, kicked off its first event of 2016 with an entry list of 44 racers from around India. The IndiKarting KartPrix aims to promote grassroots racing in India while at the same time giving serious racers an avenue to race at a reasonable cost.

For 2016, the newly introduced Amateur category was well received by the racers. The feature race, the senior open, brought out the competitive side of the racers which in turn became the one of the most entertaining one as drivers kept exchanging positions throughout the race. Mumbai’s Sunny Bhagnani was shunted twice and fell down the order as Arish Daver from Pune charged from third on the grid to win the race. With this win under his belt, he also won a free drive in the Pro Category at the next event. Aman Bhui had a tough battle but managed to finish second, ahead of Rishabh Rathi from Navi Mumbai.

Shaurya Kapani from Jamnabai Narsee School, Mumbai overcame a spin in race 2 to win the overall cadet title while Ranvir Singh from Kalyani School, Pune, the youngest participant at just 7 years of age, came in second, while Aryan Vasishta of Lotus Valley International School, Noida managed to cross the finish line in third spot.
The Senior Amateur category saw Aman Bhui from Mumbai win his semi-final round and go on to win the final. Kiran Pardeshi, also from Mumbai, did well to climb up to second position ahead of Rashad Khan from Pune.

Pune racers Alan D’Cruz, Zubin Chinoy and Byram Godrej finished top three and dominated both the Senior Plus as well as the Master categories. The Corporate category turned out to be a battle of the airlines with Jatin Vora of Jet Airways winning ahead of the Indigo Airlines duo of Tukshad and Arish Daver. The women’s category, too was the centre of a lot of crazy moves but saw Aishwarya Dhumal winning the race ahead of Pooja Shah and Franziska Prax.
