A small press conference held today in the cityof Bangalore, Santosh appeared confident as he answered questions put forth by the media. Santosh’s participation in the World Cross Country Rally Championship is not a big deal just for him, but a proud moment for the country as he is the first Indian to participate at the global level. Winner of the 14th Raid De Himalaya, Santosh spent a week in Navada, United States, earlier this month doing navigation training under Dakar Rally winner Jimmy Lewis on a KTM. Navigation skills are critical as the rider has to rely on his own skills to negotiate the harsh desert conditions. The World Cross Country Rally Championship, however, is a stepping stone for Santosh. After gaining enough experience Santosh’s final goal will be to take part in the 2015 Dakar Rally.
Speaking on the occassion Mr. Bharath Raj, Vice President, FMSCI said “the organisation was proud of Santosh and stressed on the importance of support and the right kind of exposure required to make motorsports a popular sport in the country.”
