Around 95 bike racers from all over the country participated in the fourth round of the MRF MoGrip FMSCI National Supercross championship held at Hindustan Grounds, Coimbatore on Sunday.
All the defending champions participated in the tenth edition of the off-road racing championship organised by MRF. The riders were provided with a technically demanding track in eight different categories in the second half of the championship. There were more participants this year and around 2,000 people turned out to watch the off-road motorcycles, both local and foreign, racing on the 800 m track with 25 jumps, a set-up jump, whoops and berms.
The newly launched Hero 9T9 Racing outfit and TVS Racing teams dominated as they had factory backup. Harish Noah (TVS Racing) won the SXI foreign group race on Sunday. Bikes up to 500 cc were used by motorcyclists in this particular race. Defending champion K P Aravind from TVS Bangalore stood second in this category.
Jagadish Kumar won the local category race, which had a thrilling finish. S Assarudin won everyone’s attention by performing some breathtaking stunts during the race. He qualified for the final round of the under-15 category and ended up second. This under-15 category was newly introduced this year and was well received by the crowd. The fifth round of the national level championship will be held in Bangalore later this year.
