Stefan Pierer, the CEO of KTM, was in India recently in order to launch a couple of new compact sports bike – KTM RC 390 with KTM RC 200.
Speaking on this occasion, Pierer said that though no new models will be coming here this year, but confirmed that KTM launching at least two new models in India, the next year.
Targeting the latest and fast growing leisure motorcycle trend of India, this Austrian company will be introducing the new KTM Adventure series motorcycle, probably the KTM 1050, which is going to be unveiled during the EICMA in Milan in November.
This new KTM Adventure bike will be in India as CKD (Completely Knocked Down) units and assembled here at KTM’s Indian partner – Bajaj Auto plant in Pune, where the JV already is producing the KTM 125/200/390 Duke. The new KTM Adventure bike will compete with the bikes like Triumph Tiger 800XC and Suzuki V-Strom, which are ranging between Rs 13 and 17 lakh.
Pierer also has acknowledged the fact the KTM is a world leader when it comes to the off road motorcycles. So, let’s expect to see an Enduro model making its way to our shores via the CKD route.
Finally, the KTM dude also stated that one new 250cc motorcycle is also in the pipe line for India, but didnot reveal much details. We expect the new 250cc to be a twin-cylinder motor, because Pierer has been reported saying that also on the launching lines, is a twin-cylinder engine which will be produced at the Bajaj facility and also will be exported to other regions from here.
