India’s Kush Maini secured a rookie podium finish in all three races in the second round of the Italian F4 Championship in Adria last weekend (May 7-8) to lead the rookie drivers’ championship with 91 points.

In Race 1, 15-year-old Maini finished second among the rookies and seventh overall after making a determined overtake with 10 minutes to go in the 25-minute race, a release from the driver’s management said on Monday.

The Bengaluru boy, supported by JK Tyre, finished third among rookies and sixth overall in Race 2, and second among rookies and 10th overall in the final race.

“This has been a wonderful weekend because of consecutive podiums through good race strategy,” Maini, driving for BVM Racing, was quoted in the release. “It’s a long season and I didn’t want to do too much by trying to overtake too early,” he added.

Round 3 will be held at Imola from May 27 to 29.

FMSCI President Zayn Khan commended Maini’s performance, saying: “The young driver’s eye for detail has impressed me. He will only get better with every round in the championship.”
