The India Speed Week 2016 will bring together, for the very first time, drag racing teams and speedsters across various automobile segments and categories to Kolkata across three days. Official dates for the 2016 edition of India Speed Week (ISW) has been revealed. The event will take place on the 9, 10, and 11 of December 2016
The 2016 India Speed Week was earlier scheduled to take place in January this year, but was delayed due to a few missing government approvals
Governed by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) managed and organised by Elite Octane Inc., which also organises The Valley Run in Aamby Valley, Maharashtra. The organisers are now bringing the quarter mile drag racing experience to the City of Joy, Kolkata.
ISW 2016 will be associating with dynamic, energetic and glamourous young talent who will epitomise speed, adrenaline and elegance as the “Face of the Event”. Renowned personalities such as Baichung Bhutia, John Abraham, Anil Kapoor & Jackie Shroff will be present during the Flag Off of the Drag Races and across the 3 days of the festival to cheer for the teams as they head down the tracks.
Drag Racing at India Speed Week shall be in the quarter mile format. So the fastest to cover a quarter mile distance on the runway from standstill is the winner in that category. Categories are defined by engine cubic capacities and modification levels.
Shrikant Karani from Sports craft is a prominent FMSCI and national motorsports figure. Rongom Tagore Mukerji, from Elite Octane Inc. is a drag racing specialist and also a committee member, drag racing committee of the FMSCI.
