The Chief Guest of the evening was Justice MS Ramesh, while India’s FIA World Motor Sport Council representative Gautam Singhania was also in the midst. Both of whom delivered an inspiring speech at the event, along with the FMSCI President Akbar Ebrahim.
The ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award went to former FMSCI President and K1000 rally winner KD Madan. His award was collected by his son JD Madan and was precded by an anecdotal speech by the FIA APRC’s President Vicky Chandhok and also Ebrahim.
In addition, the recently elected FIM Asia’s Vice President Sujith Kumar was also honoured, along with YN Bharadwaj and VS Shrikanth.
While the ‘Outstanding Achivement in World Motorsport’ went to Gaurav Gill, Aditya Patel, Armaan Ebrahim, Abhilash PG, Jehan Daruvala, Arjun Maini, Kush Maini, Akhil Rabindra, Krishnaraaj Mahadik, Ricky Donison, Nayan Chatterjee, Ruhaan Alva, Shahan Ali Mohsin, Shrikanth Gowda, Raahil Shetty and Yuvraj Singh.
A number of women, who have been doing well at the national level, were also among the awardees, led by Aishwarya PM, Rhyana Bee A, Kalyani V Potekar and Mira Erda.
In a brief talk, Ebrahim laid down the plans for the future of Indian motorsport which will see drifting and autocross National Championships, while cross kart (buggy) and the much discussed rallycross could also be featuring in the calendars.
Most importantly, Ebrahim spoke about bringing the FIA World Rallycross Championship race in India, which has been in discussion since early 2017
