Celebrating 33 years in the racing arena as a factory team, TVS Motor Company unveiled TVS Akula 310 concept — a thoroughbred track machine. The motorcycle has been built on the platform of the BMW G 310 R, which is manufactured by TVS at Hosur, Tamil Nadu, facility as part of the alliance.
The motorcycle concept has been engineered taking inputs from the factory race riders. The Akula, which refers to shark in Russian, is powered by a 310cc engine that is capable of producing 34bhp of power and is mated to a six-speed gearbox. TVS claims a high performance engine breathing through a forced air fed air box gives the engine a high rev peak capability.
The motorcycle features USD forks, stiff space frame chassis as well as lightweight carbon fibre bodywork. Other features include a digital speedo meter, on board gyro cameras and a steering damper for additional stability
TVS Akula 310 will get power from a 313cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine with produces a maximum power output of 34bhp at 9,500rpm, and peak torque of 28Nm at 7,500rpm on board the Beemer.
Production ready TVS Akula 310 is planned for launch by January 2017, before making debut later this year.
