But how do they ride there, how do they know where to go. Ah! dumb Question: Google Maps simple.
NO, Have you ever got lost using the Maps on your phone, I have for sure been lost more than a few times. So will you trust the Maps on your phone to ride in those terrains at speeds in excess of 150KMPH, for sure I won’t.
Imagine yourself riding in the middle of sand dunes for hundreds of kilometers per day will you have the awareness where are you?
To navigate those terrains you need more information and the ability to process it. So what’s the solution to the problem Roadbook .
The RoadBook :Like all religions have their book to get nirvana, Rallies have Roodbooks, you follow them for success. So what does a roadbook have, lemme show it to you.
It contains where you need to go, the direction (not your regular GPS lines), the degrees from north, the nature of the terrain and the dangers associated. While the Rally Car Drivers are lucky to have a designated navigator, The Pilots on the bike need to do it themselves while riding the treacherous terrain at a very high speed.
If you have not
understood by now lemme clear it for you it needs intense training and practice
to master the roadbook. One mistake in navigation generally makes you loose around
30 minutes. Imagine yourself getting lost in a desert with a degree
marker.

No, It’s not. Big rock Spain is providing free Online Roadbook and Navigation training for Indian Motorsports Athletes and Enthusiasts for free of cost.
They are teaching it very innovatively using the Google Earth Pro. Jordi from Bigrock is sharing the guide online and Helping the Riders with our very own Jatin Jain .
Contrary to international rallies Indian rallies don’t have roadbook mandatory. Which makes it difficult for Indian riders to compete at International Cross Country Rallies as they have to learn and master a new skill event to compete.
Training like these are most welcome where Indian rally riders are getting used to Roadbook format, they’ll get comfortable riding the rallies while navigating using roadbooks.
