25th September 2016 – Delhi (Gurgaon) – the 3rd round of the MRF MOGRIP FMSCI National Supercross Championship 2016 was held at Leisure Valley in sector 29 in Gurgaon.
The Supercross event witnessed about 85 entries from riders across the whole nation. This event proved to be one of the most demanding events for riders in the past several years due to the loose nature of the soil in Gurgaon. The track was very demanding and had a combination of 1 tabletops and 10 double jumps and corners. The weather was also ruthless with very high temperatures and the setup tested the riders and machines thoroughly.
Due to the focus that MRF, FMSCI and GODSPEED Racing have invested into the growth of this sport in India there has been a surge in participation and spectatorship in this National event. This event in Delhi was organised by GODSPEED Racing headed by Shyam Kothari in association with Action Sports, Jaipur headed by ex SX Champion Kunal Singh
The Sunday was a day of mixed results throwing up quite a few surprises. The most prestigious Class, the SX1, saw a privateer from Pune Vishal Barguje winning the overall in this class today and his teammate cousin who rides for Team TVS coming in third. Yash Pawar bagged the second position though he did win the 1st MOTO of this race. Vishal also took home the ‘ Best Riders Trophy’ home today with a mighty performance in both the classes that he participated.
This event also saw the participation of a new rising force- LORRAINES RACING who made their debut here in India at the first event in Goa. Their star players Yash Pawar and Venkatesh Shetty got them laurels. The SX 2 class for ‘privateers’ on foreign machines was a cracker of the race with a hard fought battle between Rugved, Yash, Adnaan and Vishal and it went down to the wire in both MOTO’S keeping the crowds on their feet. The highly coveted title for the Locals class was a tight battle but it was Irfan Alam, a very popular local boy who took top honors in this class.
A special mention to the JR SX with all the participants being under the age of 15 years and some as little as 7 years old. These children were the real heroes in the eyes of the fantastic crowds and even received a standing ovation as they took a victory lap around the track.
The event was sponsored by MRF MOGRIP and in association with the TVS Motor Company, IOC- Servo & Sidvin Core-tech. Logistical support coming from Neo’s Group and Suzuki. The medical facility was taken care by Fortis Hospital.
