Chennai, October 5: Rahil Pillarisetty from Hyderabad and local ace, Jagathishree Kumaresan achieved a double apiece in their respective categories to finish the fourth round of the MRF MMSC fmsci Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship 2025 on a high at the Madras International Circuit, here on Sunday.

Also completing a double was another Hyderabad rider, Rajender Beedani (MAI Racing) in the Stock 165cc (Novice) class while Chennai’s Soorya PM (Chandra LGE Racing) topped the Pro-Stock 200cc Open race and Varun Patil (Mad Rabbit Racing) from Bengaluru took the honours in the Stock 301-400cc (Novice) outing after the front-runners crashed in the last lap. Raj Kumar (Motul Sparks Racing) from Coimbatore scored his second win of the season in the Super Stock Intermediate 165cc category.

For 27-year-old Rahil, who has now emerged as the lead rider in the RACR Castrol Power1 team, it was one of his best weekends of the season as he outpaced his arch-rival and Pune teenager Sarthak Chavan (Petronas TVS Racing) who struggled to even keep the Hyderabad star in his sights, much less overtake. Much of their battle was fought and won in the first lap when the duo swapped the lead no less than six times before Rahil managed to open a slender lead that he increased to over three seconds when he took the chequered flag. In the provisional standings, Rahil leads Sarthak by 21 points going into the final round.

“It was a tough first lap. Sarthak and I overtook each other six times. But towards the end of the lap, I managed to keep my P1 position. Thereafter, I gradually increased the lead and won. Though I won by three seconds, it wasn’t easy. Happy to be finally fighting for a championship after the Novice (Stock 165cc) title in my debut season (2017). Overall, a difficult weekend during which I spent sleepless nights thinking about the races. So, I put a lot of pressure on myself, but happy to come through with two wins,” said Rahil.

Defending champion Jagathishree (One Racing) had a big crash in the final lap of the Girls (Stock 165cc) race, exiting Turn-2. Ann Jennifer, who was following closely, also fell when the front wheel washed away. The red flags came out immediately to stop the race. Jagathishree and Ann Jennifer retained their first and second spots ahead of another former champion Lani Zena Fernandez (RACR Castrol Power1) from Puducherry, based on their track positions at the finish line in the lap before the red flag. The 21-year-old Jagathishree, thus, finished the weekend with a grand double which helped her to extend her championship lead over Ann Jennifer by 28 points in provisional standings.

Varun Patil, a 36-year-old civil lawyer from Bengaluru, for whom racing is a hobby, profited when the two front-runners, Jagadeesh Nagaraj and Mohamed Mikhail, crashed in the last lap. The incident put Patil in the lead which he maintained to the finish line for his third win of the season. “I inherited this victory when the two riders in front crashed when I was running third,” admitted Patil.

Petronas TVS One-Make Championship: Young local challenger Abdul Basim pulled off his first win this season in the Expert (Apache RR 310) category but was subsequently disqualified for an infringement. Consequently, G Balaji (Chennai), Md Samrul Zubair (Hyderabad) and Kaushik Subbiah Ganesan (Chennai) moved up a spot to the podium.

Hari Haran from Coimbatore roared to his sixth win in eight starts in the Rookie category to take a big step towards winning the title as he will be requiring about 10 points in the final round later this year. Similarly, Sarthak Chavan (Pune) needs just one more point to clinch the title in the Electric RTE category after notching his fourth straight win to a 26-point lead over Chiranth Vishwanath (Bengaluru).

Idemitsu Honda India Talent Cup (Honda CB 300F): Notching his third win in a row and fourth overall, Jammu’s Raivat Dhar made a strong progress on the leaderboard to finish the fourth round just 16 points behind the leader, Solomon R (Chennai) who yet again came in second.
