A father, who failed to live his dream of becoming a successful Motocross rider, sold his car and almost every material comfort that was enough to buy his 17-year-old son the choices bike.
The unmatched contribution of his father has made Prithvi Singh one of the most sought after bikers in the national level
Prithivi’s father, Jatinder Pal Singh, is a teacher at Government Model Senior Secondary School in Sector 40 and has spent his life earnings to get his son a Honda CRF 250, Honda CR125 and Yamaha YZ 250F.
The youngster has not disappointed his father. Prithvi emerged winner in the up to 165cc and local class categories in the Autocross and Motocross Championship held in Mohali last year. He was also adjudged fastest rider.
The biker also finished overall third in the Kerala and Goa Supercross events earlier this year. Prithvi had earlier claimed third position in Autocross and Motocross Championship organised by Meerut Motorsports Club in 2014.
The 17-year-old will next be seen in action at the 2nd round of the MRF Mogrip Supercross National Championship
“I always wanted to see my son winning laurels in the biking world. I failed to nurture my career in biking because of lack of support. I wanted my son to fill the boots which I was never able to wear. So far, he has lived up to my expectations and I hope he will carry forward with the same charm in future too,” said Jatinder.
“Adopting motorsport as a career was not easy. Also, I had to stand up to my father’s expectations while making a name for myself. It has been a good experience so far, but surely not an easy one,” he said.
Talking about his bikes, the youngster said these machines were not easy to handle. “Youngsters are passionate about bikes, but these machines need proper care. As a professional, I am always reminded never to cross my limits or feel overconfident and I try to convey the same to the youngsters,” said Prithvi.
Besides bike racing, Prithvi also performs stunts for various Punjabi movies and songs. “A film producer saw me racing in Goa. He approached me and incidentally we both were from the same region (Punjab). Thereafter, I did stunts for two Punjabi songs and a movie,” he said.
