The 2024 KMA-Autocross season continued its thrilling run with Round 2 at Hindusthan College Grounds, Coimbatore, offering a high-octane display of speed, precision, and strategy. The event saw tremendous participation, with over 50 entries for the race registered via the MotoXindia.com website. This platform facilitated a smooth and efficient registration process, attracting a wide range of competitors, from seasoned veterans to promising newcomers, raced across multiple categories, making for an event filled with intense competition and standout performances.
Open Class 2WD
In the Open Class 2WD category, Jenu clinched the top spot with an impressive lap time of 1:28.290, narrowly beating Suraj Thomas, who clocked 1:30.090. Suraj’s consistency showed with a second run of 1:30.590, but it wasn’t enough to overtake Jenu’s commanding lead. Sumesh secured third place, finishing in 1:32.700.
Up to 1100cc Class
The Up to 1100cc class saw Vishnu K take victory with a time of 1:41.400, just ahead of Midhun Bhas, who finished at 1:41.560. Farhan Muhammed grabbed the third podium spot with 1:43.450. This close competition showcased the skills of the drivers and the fine margins that define autocross success.
Amateur Class
In the Amateur class, Dinoop Manjila emerged victorious with a lap time of 1:40.100, followed by Aswin Balaji at 1:44.040. The competition tightened with Muhammed Shamsu clocking 1:48.340 for third place. Dinoop’s performance highlighted the potential of emerging talents in the amateur ranks.
Restricted Open Class
Akhil was the standout performer in the Restricted Open class, setting a benchmark time of 1:33.850. He was closely followed by Sharan K, who finished at 1:35.640, and Vishnu V U, who recorded 1:37.030. This category featured fierce battles with drivers demonstrating technical expertise.
Up to 1400cc Class
The Up to 1400cc class saw another triumph for Jenu, with a winning time of 1:32.850. Athul took second place with 1:33.040, and Akhil rounded out the podium with 1:35.660. The race was a display of agility and finesse, with Jenu proving his dominance across multiple categories.
Stock Amateur Class
In the Stock Amateur class, Midhun Bhas led the pack with a time of 1:41.360, followed by Dinoop Manjila at 1:42.600, and Amjad at 1:45.980. The drivers handled the challenges of the course well, showcasing their ability to compete with minimal modifications.
SUV/Thar Class
Mithun A D continued his winning streak by taking first place in the SUV/Thar class with a time of 1:49.620, while Aji Jose came in second, clocking 1:53.270. The power and control needed to navigate these larger vehicles was on full display, with drivers balancing speed and maneuverability.
Up to 1650cc Class
The Up to 1650cc class was another fiercely competitive category, with Suraj Thomas taking first place in 1:30.330, followed by Sumesh at 1:32.790. Akhil secured third place with 1:33.400. The competition was incredibly close, with drivers battling for every fraction of a second.
Ladies Expert Class
In the Ladies Expert Class, Athira Murali showcased her exceptional driving skills, finishing with a time of 1:42.970 and taking the top spot in her category, proving that female racers are a force to be reckoned with in Indian motorsport.
