Hero MotoCorp, indicates that company is planning to enter Moto3 Grand Prix racing
Moto3 is the smallest class of MotoGP racing and uses 250cc single-cylinder four-stroke machines, and is already home to one Indian motorcycle manufacturer, Mahindra Two Wheelers
The class is known as a feeder category and helps to prepare riders for upper classes, such as Moto2 and the Premier Class.
Hero, which is rising rapidly as a major motorsport player after its successful debut in the world’s most difficult race, the Dakar rally, is now eyeing the Moto3 category. This could be due to several factors. The company is known as a commuter bike manufacturer and has struggled in the higher segment (150cc+ bikes) for quite some time now.
It has produced several industry-first performance bikes, like the very first CBZ and the Karizma, but these went into submission every time the competition brought out something. For instance, the former fell prey to the Pulsar 150, while the latter went down with time and then the remainder of its legacy was overshadowed with bikes like the Pulsar 220 and 200.
This, despite the fact that the engines of Hero (originally Honda’s) were generally smoother and more reliable than those of the competition back then.
However, with the company’s motorsport dreams now energized with its new found racing wing, Hero MotoSports, it can focus on developing performance bikes with higher capacity (150 to 250cc)
