Sent on a Dakar assignment is Aravind KP from Sherco TVS Factory Rally Team with one sole purpose to train for Dakar 2017. Little did he know his debut International rally event would be just 10 days away from his training start date,July 15th ’17.
Aravind KP with a new bike,at a new terrain, the new team made his International rally debut at the toughest “Baja Aragon” rally city located in the northeastern part of Spain, 22nd – 24th from Zaragoza to Teruel, Spain. Total distance 754.2 Km (574.2 Kms competitive section)
With over 68 entrants, Aravind finished 32nd at the 9.5 km super special stage on Friday,22nd July which set his start order for next day. As day 01 ended with 02 special stages, he moved to 24th from 32nd.
The final day after stage 03 moving further up to 20th position ended the rally at 21st overall and 14th in his category which is filled with highly experienced International rally stars. To finish with zero penalties at a debut rally and with no falls is an accomplishment by itself.
David Casteu, Sherco TVS Factory Rally Team manager said about Aravind KP “He did not put the bike on the ground at all and had a really good race, always on the attack and riding a clean race.”
