Joshua, H K Pradeep, Mujaffar Ali from Bangalore and Bhopal, who showed the class champions are made of in the previous legs in Jaipur, Hyderabad and Nashik. again proved a distinct class above the field featuring only the top riders from the previous rounds in this final leg, organized by Sportscraft, Mumbai, in association with Bhopal Automobile Sports Club at the BHEL Dushera ground, Govindpura.
Besides winning the Indian Expert Class Group A Foreign Motorcycles upto 260 cc, Joshua also won the Indian Expert Class Group B upto 260cc 2 & 4 stroke.

Like in all the previous rounds, the Bangalore rider, astride a TVS was a clear winner in the Indian Expert class Group A for foreign motorcycle despite being challenged all the way by Pradeep, who finished second, and R Nataraj, who placed third.

Joshua was always under pressure as he went through the motions on the serpentine course but, to his credit, did well to strike the perfect balance on the sharp bends and stay ahead of the rest of the field and come out trumps.

If his first race was rather easy, his second outing in the Indian Expert Class Group B was a close affair. Sudeep Kotegar, who ran him close in the previous rounds, tailed him right through, but again had to settle for second best. Vishal Barguje took third place.

Much was anticipated from this Clash of the Titans, and none disappointed as they went through the motions on a specially-laid out course at high speeds, their superbly prepared bike raising a dust storm all over.

The course laid out by organizers Sportscraft was really tough. In addition to the sharp bends there was also loose gravel and water-logged areas which made riding a dicey proposition, but all riders displayed excellent skills to come through this test of man and machine in flaying colours.

If the experienced riders, like Joshua, Pradeep, Ali and Nataraj dazzled, young novice Murthy R was equally good as he won Novice championship for bikes upto 165cc 2-stroke and upto 130cc.
Maninder Singh won the Private Expert Class for foreign motorcycles 260cc 2 & 4 stroke, beating back a strong challenge from Vineeth Kurup and Jatin Jain, who finished second and third respectively.

Mujjafar Ali won the Private Expert Class Group B upto 260cc 2 & 4 stroke, with Firoz Khan and Jes David coming in second and third place respectively.

Ali was indeed brilliant in winning all the four races he participated in and thus won the maximum races in the event. He certainly proved himself on the National motor sports scenario and will be the one to watch out for in events to follow.

While the goodly crowd that turned up was appreciative of the event, the riders too were all praise for Sportscraft’s conduct of the Gulf Cup which saw four legs being held at different venues and culminating with the Clash of the Titans.

They all thanked both Gulf Oil and Sportscraft for giving motorcycle riders an opportunity to parade their skills and expressed hope that the event will be held next year too.

What is unique and sets this event apart from the others is the presence of about 50 wide-eyed orphans from Our Lady’s Home, Parel and St. Anthony’s Home Byculla.

This will spell a new experience for the kids, as according to Director of Our Lady’s Home, Father Rui Camelo who noted, “This event helps to widen the horizons of the children, some of whom have never traveled in a car. They get to experience different things and interact with people from different walks of life and overall come back happy with the experience.”

Pramod Joshua dished out yet another flawless display to win the glamour events in the third round of the Gulf Cup Dirt Track Racking in Nashik on Sunday 13th December.

The 28-year-old Bangalore rider, like in the previous rounds in Jaipur and Hyderabad, once again did TVS Racing proud by sweeping the Indian Expert Class Group A Foreign Motorcycles upto 260 cc and Indian Expert Class Group B upto 260cc 2 & 4 stroke classes.

The goodly crowd that turned up on a chilly morning was left in awe as riders went through the motions in the event, organized by Sportscraft in association with Nashik Automotive Sports Association ( N.A.S.A).

If Joshua stole the limelight in the Indian Expert class, it was R Prakash of Coimbatore who took the honours in the other glamour event, the Private Expert Class for foreign motorcycles 260cc 2 & 4 stroke.

Delhi’s Maninder Singh and Pune’s Fabio Chindy were favourites and expected to battle it out for the top spot, but Prakash beat back a strong challenge from both the fancied riders to win three of the four races in the category, leaving both Maninder and Fabio to settle for second and third places.

Bhopal’s Muzaffar Ali was best in the one of the four races in the Private Expert class, finishing ahead of Jaipur’s Jas David and Nashik’s Kalyan Kambekar.

Gulf Oil has over the years spared no effort in giving two-wheeler riders an opportunity to test their skills under a safe environment with events like Dirt Track Racing and the Monsoon Scooter Rally. Sunday’s event in Nashik was no less challenging, as the course laid out by Sportscraft was really tough.

In addition to the sharp bends there was also loose gravel and water-logged areas to negotiate, which made riding a dicey proposition. However, all riders, first timers included, displayed excellent skills to come through this test of man and machine in flying colours.

Joshua, like in the past was given a tough time by his TVS mates from Bangalore R Natraj and H K Pradeep, but his flexibility and deft maneuvering over the serpentine bends proved decisive in his impressive showing.

There was huge cheering when the Novice class was run. Nashik’s Shashank Shewale gave the home fans lots to shout about as he challenged Coimbatore’s A Anand in the 165cc class all the way. However, Anand proved that wee bit better as he won a close race. Shewale placed second ahead of Mumbai’s Kshitij Shukla.

Bangalore’s R Murthy won the other two races in the Novice class. In the category for 130 cc 4-stroke bikes, he placed first ahead of city mate Syed Hidayath and Mumbai’s Kannan Naidu.

In the category for 131cc upto 165cc 4-stroke bikes, Murthy was again a class above, placing ahead of Coimbatore’s A Anand and Hidayath in that order.

Pune’s Pinkesh Thakker won three Open events – for scooters 100cc 2 & 4 stroke, Motorcycles 165cc 4 stroke and 165cc 2 stroke.

Mohan Pawar won the college class for Nashik riders for bikes upto 165cc. Samir Bharve and Gaurav Deshpande finished second and tird respectively.

While the crowd that turned up was appreciative of the event, the riders too were all praise for Sportscraft and N.A.S.A’s conduct of the event, which saw the races being gone through with precision efficiency. They thanked Gulf Oil for giving motorcycle riders an opportunity to parade their skills and expressed hope that more such event will be held in Nashik

Maninder Singh and Fabio Chindy in the Private Expert Classes Group A and H K Pradeep and Pramod Joshua in Expert Class stole the show in the second round of the Gulf Dirt Track Cup for two-wheelers, sponsored by Gulf Oil Corporation and organized by Sportscraft in association with APMSC (Andhra Pradesh Motor Sports Club) and Kart Kave Hyderabad, in Hyderabad on Sunday 8th November.

The two TVS Racing riders won the glamour categories – the Indian Expert Class Group A and B respectively for foreign motorcycles upto 260cc to stay on course for berths in the Clash of the Titans, which pits the best of the three legs of the Gulf Dirt Track cup.

While Pradeep won one race in the Indian Expert Class Group A, Joshua, who stole the show in the first leg in Jaipur, proved a class above the field in Group B, winning both the races in the category.

After ACP Shree Laxmi Nayak flagged off the day’s programme, which had 130 entries, it was a battle royal all the way as some of the best names in the business of two-wheeler dirt track racing came up with an awesome display in tough dirt conditions. The huge crowd that turned up to watch the show must surely been overwhelmed by the riding skills on display.

As dirt track racing is all about high speed, the riders raced round a serpentine gravel-laden track, which had slush in some areas. Many took a tumble or two, or skid, particularly around the sharp bends, as they looked to generate speed. But all showed the tenacity of champion riders.

While Pradeep shunted his TVS teammates from Bangalore Joshua and R Natraj to second and third place in the opening event of the day — the first race of the Indian Expert Class Group A – he was beaten by Pradeep in the second race of the same category and had to settle for second place ahead of Natraj in the second race of the category.
Joshua though was too good in Group B, winning both races with a degree of comfort.

The TVS Racing rider had the crowd cheering as he went about the motions on a tricky, winding dirt course. He was simply unstoppable once he got out off the gates. Pradeep, Arvind and Natraj tried their best but all they could settle for was second and third places respectively in both races in the group.

If Joshua stole the limelight in the Indian Expert Class, Maninder Singh and Fabio Chindy proved kings of the Private Expert Classes Group A, winning a race each and finishing second. Badal Doshi had to be content with third place in both races.

Coimbatore’s R Prakash, astride a TVS RTR 160, won both the races in the Private Expert Class for Group B.

P K Raju from Kerala, R Murthy from Bangalore and Bangalore Syed Hidayat won a race each in the Novice class which witnessed keen competition and excellent riding despite the inexperience of the riders.
B Anand Kumar emerged supreme in the College Class. He was challenged all the way by M Yasser Arafat and S Rajesh who finished second and third respectively.

And despite the long programme, all the riders and spectators were appreciative of the event, appealing to the local association to stage more similar events
